Visiting and Belonging
What should I wear?
The Church's Welcome Around Modesty
Wear clothing that is modest, clean, and respectful for prayer. You do not need special clothes to visit. Aim for something you would wear if you were entering a holy place rather than a casual hangout.
What Modesty Means Here
Modesty is about reverence and consideration, not social display. Clothing should help you pray and avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Different parishes may have different local expectations, so observe and ask gently if you are unsure.
A Good First Visit Choice
For most visitors, simple pants or a skirt with a modest shirt works well. Bring a light layer if you are unsure. Comfort matters too, because you may stand for long portions of the service.
